This is, of course, a rumor so take it with a grain of salt but with the trailers and marketing material we have seen this would not be out of the ordinary at all. In the midst of all the reunions and comedic callbacks, Thor and his allies will also have to contend with Christian Bale's Gorr the God Butcher and Valkyrie will be in search of her queen as the new king of Asgard. Many if not all of the Guardians of the Galaxy will also appear in the movie, as Thor was last seen traveling with them at the conclusion of Avengers: Endgame. Lady Sif will be back after escaping the fate that the Warriors Three suffered, and Jane Foster will not only return but take up the mantle of Thor herself. The fourth Thor film will not only feature the return of many of Waititi's additions to the canon, but it will also bring back some key players who skipped Ragnarok. The photo proves that the Asgardian actors will once again be retelling the events of a previous film, and set photos also revealed that Melissa McCarthy will appear in the play within the film. The story is a dramatization of Thor: The Dark World that's especially favorable to Loki, who, disguised as Odin, commissioned the play. In Ragnarok, Damon, Luke Hemsworth and Neill played Loki, Thor and Odin, respectively, in the play that the actual Thor stumbles upon when he returns to Asgard. It's been rumored that Damon will return to the Thor franchise and Sam Neill also hinted that he'd have a role in Taika Waititi's follow-up to Ragnarok (Waititi can be seen talking to the two actors in the photo).
